Privacy policy — social media messages

This page describes what happens to a message you send us on Instagram or Facebook. For this site's newsletter, advertising and cookies, see the general privacy policy.

Controller

Why this exists at all

People write to us in several places at once — by e-mail, on Instagram, on Facebook. So that we do not answer twice or not at all, we use an internal tool of our own that collects messages from those channels in one place. It is not a third-party service: it runs on our own infrastructure, and your message does not end up in anyone else's hands.

What data we process

• the content of your message and its attachments, as you sent it,
• the sender's public username and profile picture — what the social network itself shows beside the message,
• comments on our own posts,
• the time of the message and a conversation identifier, so we can tell what follows what.

None of it is invented or looked up elsewhere: we process what you wrote to us and what the network attaches to it.

Purpose and legal basis

The purpose is to answer you and carry on our dealings with you — a photo session, typically, but equally a print, a date, or whatever you are asking about. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who approach us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, once something is agreed, performance of a contract (point (b)).

Where it is kept

Messages are stored on our own server in the Czech Republic. They are not in anyone's CRM and not with a chat-tool provider. Only the studio's operator has access to them.

What we do not do with them

• we do not pass them to anyone else and we do not sell them,
• we do not use them for advertising, targeting or audience building,
• we do not profile you on them and make no automated decisions about you,
• we do not combine them with data from sources other than the ones you gave us yourself.

For how long

We keep a conversation for as long as the arrangement is live, and after that for as long as we may need it to defend our rights or to meet statutory duties — where it led to an order, the same periods apply as to our other business records. A conversation that led nowhere can be deleted at your request at any time.

What is outside our control

The social networks are separate controllers of your data and have rules of their own. When you write to us on Instagram, that message is also processed by Meta under their policy, not under this one. We look after the copy that is with us.

Your rights

You have the right of access to your data, to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interest.

Deleting a conversation: write to info@stereophotography.cz and we will remove it. One thing belongs with that, so it is not a surprise: deleting it here does not remove the social network's copy — that has to be requested from them, because we have no access to their store.

You may lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.gov.cz).
